This Sunday Kingston Cobras face Summer Cup rivals Blackburn Falcons in a friendly. Blackburn have kindly stepped in to replace Newcastle Coyotes who withdrew from the game.

An opponent for the 23th April – the original date for the Blackburn game, will be announced in due course.

The two sides traded wins last year, with the home side winning on both occasions. Blackburn edging Cobras 5-2 in June before Kingston registered an 18-4 win in August against a depleted Falcons side.

The two sides met in back to back Summer Cup playoff finals in 2012 and 2013. Kingston edged the 2012 final 3-1 before Blackburn avenged the defeatĀ  in 2013 winning 7-2.

Blackburn did not make the playoffs in the 2015 Summer Cup campaign, finishing with a 4-8-0 record. This was the first time in a number of years Falcons had not finished in the top 4 and made the end of season dance.

The friendly is a chance for both sides to get some match practise ahead of the Summer Cup season.
