Cobras opened their 2015 campaign with an 8-0 victory over Nottingham Phantoms at National Ice Centre
Kingston looked rusty in the opening exchanges, with some sloppy passing gifting Nottingham some early chances. Mike Smith in the Kingston goal however, nullified anything the Nottingham side could muster.
Any early nerves for Cobras, were settled with just over five minutes on the clock, Chris Hogarth going coast to coast to put Kingston 1-0 up (05.28)
Both sides exchanged chances before Matt Fadden fired in Cobras second of the evening with a well taken one timer (14.40)
The second period saw Kingston impose themselves on the game and despite out-chancing Phantoms 14-6, some great saves from Phantoms netminder Estella limited Cobras to two goals in the middle frame. Hogarth (30.56) & Robinson (38.46).
Cobras began the final stanza with a 5 minute powerplay due to a Phantoms player having some choice words for the referee at the end of the second.
Despite numerous chances on the powerplay, only Mike Forbes (44.05) could convert with a well taken solo effort.
The final five minutes saw Cobras adding 3 more tallies. Hogarth completing his hatrick (54.44), Robinson adding his second (56.18) and Chris Reader scoring on his debut (59.51) to leave the score 8-0 at the final buzzer.
